WATER TECHNOLOGY AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL (WATEC) 2017 SENSITISATION EVENT WATEC 2017 is a Lagos State government initiative to bring water, environment and agriculture professionals, stakeholders and innovators to share their experiences regarding current and future trends in the sectors and to sensitise stakeholders on the Water Technology and Environmental Control (WATEC) Exhibition and Conference scheduled to hold 12th-14th September, 2017 in Tel Aviv, Israel. The sensitisation event, organised by the Office of Overseas Affairs and investment (Lagos Global) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, took place on Monday, 10th July, 2017 at the Renaissance Hotel, G.R.A Ikeja. In attendance, as the chief host was His Excellency, Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode; Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Guy Feldman, Special Adviser to the Governor on Overseas Affairs and Investment, Professor Ademola Abass; Special Adviser to the Governor on the Environment, Mr. Babatunde Hunpe and Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare. Lagos State, being the fifth largest economy in Africa, can influence the business community and stakeholders in the state and the country by partnering with them to improve water management technology and the latest agricultural innovations, as well as invite the critical participants to the pre-event in July and the conference in September.

Lagos State Government Signs Historic Smart City Deal With Dubai
The Lagos State Government and the City of Dubai on Monday entered into a historic partnership that will see Lagos emerge as the first Smart City in Africa. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Lagos Smart City was signed at the Emirate Towers by the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem and the Chief Executive Officer of Smart City Dubai LLC, Mr. Jabber Bin Hafez. The signing of the MOU, which would make Lagos the home of the very first Smart City in Africa, was witnessed by the Chairman of Dubai Holdings, His Excellency, Ahmad Bin Byat who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
The Chicago Forum on Global Cities
June 1st to 3rd, nearly 600 delegates and 60 speakers from more than 30 countries participated in the 2016 Chicago Forum on Global Cities, hosted by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the Financial Times. An additional 3,000 from 37 countries watched the forum via video.
